Social Sparkle's services are provided solely by founder Kirsty Harkness - offering flexible support at home that provides continuity and kindness within East Lothian, Midlothian and Edinburgh.

Kirsty has the following qualifications -

Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care

SVQ 2 in Social Services and Healthcare.

Additionally she has many years of experience supporting vulnerable members of the community.

Where it all began and a little about me..

Social Sparkle began on what would have been my Granny Rita's 100th birthday - 06/06/2026.

I miss her greatly, especially spending time with her within her home, of which I have very fond memories of.

After many years of employment within the charitable sector within organisations such as Parkinson's UK, Citizens Advice and Age UK. I found myself looking to dive into something else just as rewarding-

Over the past 15 years I have had the pleasure of supporting people in various capacities, from providing hands on personal care, advising people on welfare benefits to coordinating a befriending service. I've had a varied career within the third sector in many roles and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment, particularly the face to face communication with older people.

I'd like to hope what I can offer with Social Sparkle is similar to the old school home help service that people once had.

I pride myself on being the same friendly face within their home each visit, providing kindness, professionalism and continuity.

A little about me - in my spare time, most of that is spent at the stable's with my two former racehorses - Conal & Ivar. I feel very blessed to own them, i'm usually out wandering the countryside with them, competing or picking poo out of their field! Lewis, my wondeful Partner who I have to thank for the supportive nudge to start Social Sparkle is usually not far away, most of the time he's helping me with some horse related task, bless him.

I also have the joy of two little dogs, Jess (14yrs) and Rudy (1yr) - both Patterdale terriers, they're little characters who I love dearly.
